Oh for the wide open spaces

Published on 29/2/2008

Often we’ll have clients who, having been brought up in the towns and cities where land has been at a premium. These clients will often ask for ‘as much land as possible’, so "an acre, a hectare, several hectare?",   "oh, yes, a few hectares!". Needless to say, we’ve taken clients on there word and shown them a hectare or two, only to find their idea of ‘as much as possible’ would only really mean a maximum of half an acre. Its very quickly obvious that the question, how much land? should be tempered with, a tennis court, a hockey pitch, a football pitch, or a farm? The simple fact is that no matter how much land you decide on, the rate at which things grow here will absolutely stagger anyone used to UK norms, this is why in my own case I’ve moved house 3 times here and downsized the garden each time!
